Printing

When ordering your party invitations, birth announcements, photo cards, and personalized stationery, you will read a volume of information about printing processes. We've included this summary to help guide you through the process. Paper Concierge offers cards and stationery related to the types of printing described here.

Digital Printing

Digital printing is the hottest trend in personalized stationery printing. Many of the products available from Paper Concierge are printed on the highest quality digital printing press. Unlike some digital printers, our press uses a chemically-optimized ink to produce the finest resemblence to traditional offset printing. Combined with our paper, produced in a specialty finish, the result is a card that makes colors vibrant, text crisp and helps your photos "pop".

Offset Printing

Offset printing is one of the older forms of printing, in comparison to digital. During the offset process, images are transferred from a plate to the paper. The final result is a flat finish, as opposed to letterpress (which creates a debossed texture) or embossing, engraving, or thermography (which actually raises the ink off the paper). Offset printing is a standard in the personalized stationery industry, and is often referred to as "flat printing".

Letterpress

Letterpress is the oldest, and one of the most classic, printing processes. There has been a recent resurgance in the popularity of letterpress, due in part to the hand-nature of the finish product. During the letterpress process, a plate covered in ink is pressed into the paper stock, creating an impression of the image. Since the process is laborious and detailed, the final result is a luxurious product that is rare and treasured.
